Flip'n Friday

Yard Sale: Moving to Hawaii from Chelsea Wayant on Vimeo.

This week for Flip'n Friday I've made a piece about my sister's garage sale. She moved to Hawaii on Wednesday and had to sell all of her stuff. This consisted of a lot of clothes. I knew that she loved clothes and had a substantial collection, but it was pretty amazing to actually see it all laid out in piles.

For those of you that are new to this blog every Friday I post a video for the week. Normally, I shoot the pieces with a simple Flip Camera, but every now and then I will use my Canon or edit footage from one of my films into a trailer or whatnot. It just depends on the week. You can see all the Flip'n Friday here (or just check out this and this, two of my favorites).

Hawaiian Cupcakes

Before my sister left she had a going away party and asked me to make some Hawaiian themed cupcakes. These are still from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. They taste so good nobody believes me that they are vegan.

The first cupcake is pineapple, the second is lemon macadamia, and third is chocolate coconut. I had the worst time decorating the last one, but my friend was helping me and we decided that it looks like a volcano. While they are not decorated Hawaii-ish, I used Hawaii ingredients.

At this point my sister has been in Hawaii for twenty-four hours. I talked to her earlier and she says it is really beautiful and she is enjoying watching geckos play. It's a pretty shocking statement to say it is beautiful in Hawaii, I know. Can't wait to visit her!

Downtown Wilmington

When I lived in Wilmington these are some of my favorite places to both visit and just look at. I really miss living somewhere that I can take a relatively short walk and be near restaurants and old buildings. Nikki's is my most favorite restaurant in the whole world. I miss it dearly. I've considered moving back just so I can eat there on a regular basis (though the lack of jobs in the area usually cancels out that idea). And, of course, yummy fudge and the good smells coming from the ice cream/chocolate shop cap of a downtown Wilmington visit.

Still super busy here. It should all change tomorrow. My sister is off to Hawaii and I have finally finished designing my DVD. Finally, peace in the house. I hope.

Photo from the Past

Things have been so busy here that I haven't had time to scan any new pictures nor take my film to the lab. Soon I will be back logged with photos, but for now I thought I would repost this photo. For some reason it makes me very happy.

On Wednesday my sister is moving to Hawaii and she is in the process of getting rid of all of the things she has acquired these past years. Between helping her and working on job applications. I have been swamped and even at this very moment I hear my daughter crying out for me. So I gotta go. I'll try to be back soon.

Flip'n Friday: With the Wind

This week I was able to do a video shoot with my sister, who has  been featured in my films since she was young. Actresses can bow out, but a sister is in it for the long haul. We can work fairly fast because I can direct her in shorthand. We shot at Guilford Courthouse Battlefield Park where a key battle of the Revolutionary War was fought. When we were there it was very hot and they were laying asphalt, which was noisy and may have even made it even hotter. At one point bicyclists were very curious as to why my sister was wandering the battlefield sulking in a long white dress. I am very happy with the results and it came out as I visioned. It is very pretty and dreamlike; hopefully it will bring calmness to your day.
